Nelson C. Peredo II

Nelson was the first and ultimately only child born on April 1st, 1982 to my then sister in law Dee Ann (Jones) Peredo. My first and ultimately only child Whitney was born some four months later. Dee, Nelsie, my daughter Whitney and myself spent many a wonderful time together when the kids were little. These times were planned for our children, but for us Mom's they turned out to be the most special times of our entire existence. Nothing in the world compares to us two women in the way our children do. This I know first hand and as fact. Learning that Dee had lost her baby Nelsie broke my heart in a way I can't even describe. My heart hurts so because I know the huge, tremendous, love my friend has for her child and her loss is beyond imaginable by any of us who know her well. Of all my friends Dee holds the record as being the most dedicated Mom in every single possible way. Don't tell anybody but I know that she wouldn't even date when she was raising the young man because plain and simple, why her son came first. Wow. I call that devotion. Nelson was my example of a kid just being born a certain way. Nelson was born head strong. Nelson had a determination even as a small child that defied all logic. When he decided he would no longer be contained by the sides on his baby bed her learned very quickly how to escape. Even though he was short he was mighty. He learned to climb chairs very early. He was all boy. We had so much fun with our kids watching them grow. We put floaties on them and prepared for swimming times at Dee Ann's with great excitement. We looked so forward to going to the Ft. Harrison Free Fair together, King's Island, Holidays at Grandma Christine's, times spent at Dee's house playing, times spent out in my yard running and jumping off the rock, swinging, strolling the grounds with Dee holding hands and guiding the tour. I remember Nelsie getting so bored at a Sesame Street live show that he preferred to play down in the bleachers versus watching a boring to him old live show. Dee would get down on his level and speak with him but no matter. If he decided it wasn't for him, no amount of coaxing would change a thing in the outcome. Nelson was a hands on boy who would tell you in no uncertain terms his opinion and boy did he ever have one. He would tell me his Auntie vivid tales of grandeur often and with much zeal. Knowing his way and his thoughts were correct, any advice I had was often poo poo'd by the young lad. I loved him but also many a time was so glad I didn't have a boy child because I wasn't sure I had the strength that I watched Dee display always with her child Nelson. I always admired her and I was always so happy for her that she had her special gift of a child because no doubt about it the Jones' prodigy are forces to be reckoned with. Brilliant, beautiful, charming and more. Dee would tell me how the pictures she would keep on her desk at work were often looked at by others and comments ranged from how beautiful to how they should be models, etc. which any Mom knows are totally words that make our day (and life). I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that she did everything in her power to raise her young man as effectively and as wonderfully as any person I have ever known (excluding myself of course). I will pray for her peace all the remainder of my days. May the Lord wrap his big arms around you all and keep you in his care and help you overcome this tremendous loss. I have so many stories I could share as I know that everyone who knew Nelson does. However I want a to share the story of us. I met Nelson over 6 years ago while I was working at Blockbuster. I happened to be the only one on the register that night and had a huge line of people, Nelson came in and waited at the counter like he needed something ( I later found out he used that time to get a good look at me) I kept turning around and apologizing that I would be with him shortly as soon as I get the line down he kept telling me no worries take your time. Eventually my line whent down and I had time to talk to him and all he wanted to know is what my favorite movie was I told him it was the crow and so he went and rented it. Nelson started coming in every night about the same time I later found it that he was working nights and was coming in when he got off of work. I was not really ready to get into another relationship so he would ask to go have coffee I would always say yea maybe one day. I could never actaully tell him no for some reason even though I was pretty sure he was stalking me lol. When I wasn't at work he would ask my co-workers about me and when I came in I would get Nelson was here to see you last night. Then one morning when I openend the store I had not worked the night before there was an envelope sitting in the office with my name on it and inside was a very small note that said he was a really nice guy just please come get some coffee with me sometime and it had his phone# on it. I called him that night when I knew he got off of work and we talked until 6 in the morning. We played the question game where one asks a question such as your favorite color you answer and then ask your own question. In that one night we learned how much we were alike and also how different we were. We made plans for dinner and a movie, we went to outback steakhouse for dinner and went to a movie we had such a good time we stayed for 2 movies. We were together ever since. Me and Nelson are complete opposites yet we learned that we balanced each other out in so many many ways. I taught him to be a little more calm he taught me to be a little more aggressive. I fell so in love with Nelson so fast but I was scared to tell him right away lol little did I know he felt the same way. He told me he loved me first just after a few weeks. Nelson fit right in with my moms family he was just as crazy as we all are. After a few months I wanted him to meet my dad we made plans to meet at the house of tokyo he felt it was such a big occassion he ordered my favorite flower (lilacs) which are not easy to find. My dad and him hit it off pretty quickly Nelson had such a huge respect for my dad. It took Nelson a year to let me meet his dad. He always told me that if I met his dad then he was going to marry me. I had already an overwhelming amount of respect for his dad becuase of how much respect Nelson had for him. I feel in love with his family they took me in as I was one of their own. About 2 years into our relationship he asked me to marry him. We had went into the jewlry store for what I thought was a promise ring when he puts this beautiful princess cut solitair diamond on my hand and asked me if I would marry him. I cried and of course told him yes. We had planned on it being a long engagement becuase we wanted to live together for a while. We got a place together and got used to each others quirks like how I had to always have toilet paper on hand and he needed tobasco for everything. We had the kind of relationship that it didnt matter what we were doing we really were happy just being together. Our first Valentines Day together he asked me what I wanted to do go to dinner catch a movie I said lets stay home order pizza and watch the Simpsons he laughed and said I love you. Nelson never missed kissing me goodnight even when he worked nights the first thing he did even before he took his boots off was kiss me. I always told him that my favorite thing about him was his eyes because I saw myself in them. He never let me feel unloved. He could never let me stay mad at him or even just have a bad day. When I would have a bad day at work hed say its almost over babygirl then you get to see me. He hugged me everytime I walked in the door. 2 years after he asked me to marry him we set a date or let me say he set a date. Thats all he wanted to be in charge of and he picked 10/10/10 so that he would never forget it. We planned our wedding for a year picked our favorite place got a beautiful dress. I'll never forget when he asked his best friend Tom to be his best man it was such a cute moment I think they both got a little teary eyed. 3 weeks before our wedding Nelson needed back surgery. I was so worried about his well being I was ready to postpone everything but he wouldnt have it. He said if he could walk then he was marrying me. The day came it was a beautiful day I never once got nervous I was so happy. It was a beautiful ceremony outside in a gazebo but October in Brown County means lady bugs and we were covered. I loved it becuase I love bugs so it just felt appropriate to have them at my wedding. That was the happiest day of my life. I was so lucky to have married someone who loved me just as much as I loved him. I made sure our vowes did not say until death do us part because I beleive that kind of love goes on forever so we said forever and always. Things went wrong that day the food order was wrong the cake fell over but I didn't care I just married Nelson nothing could make that day any less than what it was. It was the day my soul became one with his. We both beleived that there is one person in this world that is meant to be yours and we had found that person in each other. Nelson was still healing from his back surgery so he couldnt really dance like he wanted to dance with me but he did his best. Several months later we were at home just watching t.v. when he turned our song on (have a little faith in me) and we danced in the living room. Writing this is breaking my heart knowing I will not have this again. I loved Nelson with more than my heart I loved him with my soul. I will forever be thankful to have that kind of real love. The time I had with Nelson was not nearly long enought but the love we had in that time will last a life time. That love will be what keeps me going on always remembering always loving him. I love you baby with all of my heart and I always always always will. Please rest easy my husband the love of my life.

Nelson, by outward appearances was a tough guy. You know, the guy who had to have the largest dog on the block and cats, no way, he wouldn't have it. Well, it took Vicki, Dawn (Vicki's mother) and I forever to convince Nelson to let Vicki have a dog, but not just any dog, a Chihuahua! Finally after quite some time coaxing Nelson, he said she could have Bruce Almighty (small dog syndrom, another story) but he was by no means going to be seen walking a Chihuahua. It was but a few days gone by when Vicki and Nelson stopped by our place to visit, low and behold what did Nelson have in his hand, a leash and at the other end was this little cream colored Chihuahua named Bruce. Nelson and Bruce were inseperable! Best buds, Nelson would take Bruce out for walks for all the neighbors to see and what a sight it was. This gentle giant of a man with this petite little dog! LOL, it was great! Did I mention Vicki had two cats? Well, don't tell anyone but Nelson would also walk the cats on a leash. What a tough guy!!!

We all loved Nelson and will never forget the laughs and great times he brought into out lives!
