Wiltern L. Bryan

Wiltern was born in Enid, OK and lived in Nampa, Idaho where he left his first wife and son Eddy. He lived in Visalia, Calif. and mostly Anchorage, Alaska. He was a welder in the Calif. shipyards during WWll. He later got into the plumbing and heating trade and did very well at it. I first met him at O.K. Heating & Plumbing on June 17, 1956. We started working there 1 day apart and he was a friendly, helpful

Wiltern was born in Enid, OK and lived in Nampa, Idaho where he left his first wife and son Eddy. He lived in Visalia, Calif. and mostly Anchorage, Alaska. He was a welder in the Calif. shipyards during WWll. He later got into the plumbing and heating trade and did very well at it. I first met him at O.K. Heating & Plumbing on June 17, 1956. We started working there 1 day apart and he was a friendly, helpful man. After a few years he joined Vern Roggow and started the very successful Payless Plumbing & Heating business in Anchorage, AK. We partnered in the mid 60's and put in the water system at the Nikiski Dock in Kenai and did some rehabilitation work in Seldovia after the 1964 earthquake. He had many friends and was very good at a lot of trades. He loved to work and had a special knack in solving difficult problems having only gone through the 8th grade. We were very close friends and I loved to hear his stories. He was a good auto mechanic too. He first worked as a mechanic when coming to Anchorage. His wife Neddie and son Wiltern Jr. preceeded him in death. He leaves his first son Eddie, daughter Nancy and step son Randy Simmons. I will truly miss him, he taught me plumbing and heating and a lot more including work ethic. He will be missed by many.
