Mr. Oral Lee Carter

Mr. Oral Lee Carter passed from this life to a better one on Wednesday July 11, 2011 in Jackson, Mississippi. Visitation will be held Friday, July 13, from 5pm-7pm at Lakewood Memorial in Jackson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 14, at 10:00 pm at Lakewood Memorial in Jackson.
O. L. Carter was born in Leake County, Mississippi on February 04, 1925 to the late Rev. Perry Lee and Myrtis Curtis Carter. He graduated from Edinburg High School in 1943 and served in the 138th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War 2. When he returned home, he married Clariece Braswell Carter, his wife of 60 years. He graduated Mississippi College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Education degree then served his country again in the Korean War.
O.L. Carter was a humanitarian and philanthropist who dedicate his life to helping others and making the world he lived in better place for all. He served as a member on the Human Rights Committee at Boswell Regional Center for 35 years. He was an active member of the Wahabi Shriners of Jackson where he transported children to various Shriner Hospitals. O. L. was an active, lifelong member of the American Legion, VFW, and was a 32nd Degree Master Mason of the Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Clariece Braswell Carter and sister Mary Ruth Shuler. Mr. Carter is survived by a daughter, Jeannine Woodard (Brian) of Camden, Arkansas; sons: Hugh Carter (Cindy) of Madison; Billy Ray Carter of Magee. Grandchildren, Jessica Parisi of Pearl; Nicholas Carter of Rockville, Maryland; and Rachel Clark of Madison , a brother Cecil Carter of Calhoun, LA and his loyal dog Buddy.
Pallbearers will be Junior Grice, Eric Pigg, Chuck Pigg, Greg Pigg, Mark Tisdale, and Gage Wright.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wahabi Shriner's Hospital Transportation.
