Memories & Candles
Dick has been a dear friend, advisor, and role model since I was a teenager. I will miss him, but he lives on in many that he loved and nutured. I am sorry I was out of town for the funeral. I was honored to have him as my friend and look forward to seeing him again in heaven.

In reviewing my father's memorials, I read Mr. Koella's announcement online, and thought, What a wonderful statement of Mr. Koella's life. He sounds as if he was an interesting, motivated, kind person. I am sorry for your loss.

I know my parents, Anne and Francis Painter, would join me and my sister Anne joins me in our condolences to the family. My father thought the world of Angie and Dick and we were all proud of his caring and commitment to his family and community.

His nephews and nieces are in my thoughts, and I send my blessings to each of them, who added humour and happiness to Dick's life.
We will all miss him so very much.

What a gentleman! Dick Koella was a friend to so many--his Sigma Alpha Epsilon Brothers, the undergraduates of the Chapter (he WAS Mr. SAE!), and his interfraternal associates. I cherish the years of friendship with Dick and will miss him greatly. Our July 4th weekend several years ago with Dick, Angie, and their "regulars" at the Seaview Inn at Pawleys Island is a treasured memory.
Rest in Peace and thanks for giving so much to so many.

My thoughts and deepest sympathy are with the family of Dick Koella and the many who admired and loved him. Dick was outstanding in this area, in his church, his fraternity, and leadership qualities. He will be missed by so many, including me and my living brother, Lloyd Davidson, of Honduras.
He was energetic, personable, handsome, and a true gentleman. His nephews and nieces are also outstanding and have been close to my family.
My love and prayers are with you. Betty Frierson

I will always cherish being enlisted by Mr. Koella in 1980 to help bring the Tennessee Kappa SAE chapter back to its former glory and strength, which would not have happened without his dedication and loyalty to his chapter.
