Mrs. Elvenia Tillman Griffin, 76, of Adel, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Tift Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Mrs. Griffin was born in Colquitt County to the late Carlie L. and Ethel T. Tillman. She was a member at the China Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Colquitt County and was retired from Riverside Maufacturing.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Charles Edward Griffin; her daughter, Lisa Schofill both of Adel; two step-daughters and their husbands, Elnita and David Ginn of Valdosta and Jami and Wayne Ade of Adel; one brother, Carl Tillman, two sisters, Margie Keith and Eunice Hall all of Moultrie; her grandchildren are: Freelon and Jennifer Gay of Nashville, GA; Wesley Gelatt of Macon, GA; Kalita and Jeremy Edwards of Homerville, GA; Brian and Danielle Gibbs of Lakeland, GA; Brianna Ginn of Valdosta, GA; Sharrod and Amber Fulghum, Kyle and Brittany Fulghum, Garrett Ade, Colby Ade all of Adel, GA; Mandy and Jody Ledford of Thomasville, GA; Ryan and Jessica Schofill of Moultrie, GA; Crystal Schofill of Adel, GA; Donna and Alan Dixon of Key West, FL; Michelle and Michael Petty of Naylor, GA and 12 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Hansel Tillman and one sister Ruby Moore.
The Funeral Service was held Friday, August 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the China Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Colquitt County with Rev. Jimmy Hiers and Rev. James Sellers officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Freelon Gay, Wesley Gelatt, Brian Gibbs, Sharrod Fulghum, Kyle Fulghum and Garrett Ade served as pallbearers. Mary Sue Tillman played piano before and after the service; "I Sure Miss You," "Beulah Land" and "In His Arms, I'm Not Afraid" were special selections played during the service.
