EJ never let ALS define who he was as a person. Captured in amber for all time is the view of a witty, smart, kind, generous, faithful, upright man, interested in all that life had to offer, connoisseur of all fine things, devoted to his faith and family.

EJ was and is my dear brother, companion, advisor, supporter and above all friend. His guidance and support took me and our parish though some difficult times and his architectural expertise was indispensable to our building program. The timing of his arrival at Good Shepherd was nothing short of divine and his ministry and leadership was appreciated beyond what words can express. I miss EJ very much. I mourn our loss but I rejoice at his rest and glorious victory in Christ.

God's love, peace and gratitude for servanthood and a spirit that you so willingly shared with others- we pray that the Lord brings your extended family comfort as they celebrate your life, contagious humor and stories of life's adventures.

Hi EJ-I always knew you were a good and faithful servant of the Lord but in the last few days I have been reminded of that more and more through conversations with friends and family. You are an inspiration to me and to many and are truly missed, but I know you are in the most wonderful place now! I will miss our conversations and that facetious smile you used to get when teasing someone or getting ready to tell a punchline of a joke! All my love-Meg

Dear Ken,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. It appears as if your brother understood that the sufferings that we endure for a little while are nothing to be compared to the glory that will be revealed in us (Romans 8:18). I trust that in the days, weeks and months ahead that all of you will follow his example of faith and take comfort in God's promise that "....as your days, so shall your strength be." (Deuteronomy 33:25).

I recently met EJ and Jean at the ALS Support Group Meeting here in Georgetown, Tx. I so appreciated EJ's openness and willingness to talk about his disease. I learned so much to help me understand and help my brother-in-law with his ALS. I was able to relate to Jean and we had a "non-ALS" lunch. I so appreciate her friendship.
My thoughts and prayers are with Jean and the family at this time.
God bless,
Jan
