Memories & Candles
It's been over a month since your passing and it still seems unreal. There are many things going on and I wish u were here to talk to and give me guidance. I miss our conversations. I miss ur random emails that always put a smile on my face. I miss just hanging out with u and having a few beers. I'll never get to hear my favorite song u sang (the one that proved u had had too much

Well Douglas and Kathy I have thought long and sadly for several days about what to say in memory of my friends best friend. Kathy found Doug at a summer 4929 Central pool party filled with music laughter and good times. My the fun laughter and loud lively conversations we have had all the while watching all the children grow up. It had been a blessing for me to have had the kindness and caring and support of Kathy and

After over a decade, there are so many memories, but the one that keeps coming to mind is Doug, leaving to run an errand. Liquor or grocery run, probably, but I'm not sure. He was dressed in long johns, cutoffs, boots, a Colts sweatshirt and his leather jacket. Someone, probably Craig or Jake, was giving him a hard time about his outfit. Not at all bothered, Doug responded,"You gotta have self-confidence to dress like this," and went on about

Doug was always Jenny's cool big brother when I think about him. The picture of him standing by the old green Ford truck is exactly the way I remember him. Jenny's parents were always so kind in allowing us to spend as much time as we wanted to at their house. It seems like the basement was always filled with laughter and Dead music. I always knew they were a special family with enough love to go around for all. God bless each and every one of you.

I met Doug in 1982, when he was kind enough to let a group of Jen and her OU friends stay with him on our road trip to the Indy 500. He passed out all these different musical instruments and we just played them all together. I thought, Jenny really has a cool brother. Well Jen and I stayed together so I got to know Doug better, one day Jen was pregnant up at Dora's and Doug sang us the

Doug was more than a neighbor to my family he was a dear friend. Moving back into the neighborhood as an adult with my children I never had any worries. Doug and Kathy were always there to help me during a difficult time. For that I will be forever grateful.
My favorite memory of Doug is coming home to have him sitting in the driveway listening to the grateful dead! I will dearly miss all of the Fourth of July
