Memories & Candles


Scott and I only knew Bob through the Tampa Power Squadron, but we have many fond memories. He took us both through the instructor course, he was the paddling safety officer at the annual cardboard boat race, he studied junior navigation with me and he was one of my favorite subjects to photograph. When he found out that Scott makes wine and that bottles were an expense, he rounded up several cases of empties and delivered them to our house. We’ll miss his unique brand of humor, his smile and his laughter.

I'm another high school classmate who was forturnate to be able to reconnect with one of the greatest guys I still remembered after 50 years.

We 'talked' computer until he retired, about the old days, the guys and some of girls too. One of a best.

Rest in Peace, Bob, you've earned it.

I was lucky meet Bob during his recent visit to Cleveland. I liked him immediately and could tell he was a great guy. My sympathies to the Dougherty Girls, family members and friends of Bob Dougherty. Bob

Bob was one of those special teachers of safe boating. To see him instruct was a special treat as he guided students into seeing the points that he wanted them to remember. A better friend and example of the true gentleman, you would never find.

Mr.D was a large part of the joy at West Tampa. He had a way of making everyone feel special! No one will ever fill the shoes of Super C.
