CAROLINA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME Our professional staff welcomes you to the warm and friendly atmosphere of the Carolina Memorial funeral home, where we proudly serve all area cemeteries. Whether you prefer cremation with a small family gathering, or would like a large traditional funeral, you can trust us to assist you in planning and honoring your final wishes. Established in 1993, the Carolina Memorial funeral home and cemetery offices are located in one building. The 17,000-square-foot facility was constructed in keeping with "Old Charleston" architecture and features four lovely visitation rooms and a large chapel with a 16-foot ceiling. The chapel seats up to 300 guests. Also included in the building are meeting rooms and offices. CAROLINA MEMORIAL PARK The beautiful Carolina Memorial Park was established as a cemetery in 1954 and is located just off Interstate 26, a few miles due west of Charleston. With more than 50 acres, it is one of the largest cemeteries in South Carolina. A wide range of burial options is available including traditional ground burial, lawn crypts, garden and chapel mausoleum entombment, as well as several options for those who choose cremation. Those who have served our country can be honored in a special veterans section in Carolina Memorial Park. There is also a lawn crypt area designated for veterans. The red brick tower, once the office building for the cemetery, is considered by many to be a landmark in North Charleston. Many intriguing monuments and features can be seen at Carolina Memorial Park, including monuments of Gethsemane and praying hands. A magnificent white marble fountain, originally carved in 1859, was created in Carrara, Italy. It is 15 feet tall and is located in the fountain garden. Carolina Memorial Park is truly a garden park with many beautiful plants including azaleas, dogwoods, flowering Indian hawthornes, holly and boxwood. These plants add flowers and greenery to the grounds throughout the year. Carolina Funerals and Cremations is pleased to offer families the unique opportunity to share, record, and preserve their own special memories of their loved one through our exclusive multi-media tribute program. Carolina Funerals and Cremations's new Enduring Memories® Video Booth allows family and friends the opportunity to record and preserve on video the special stories, memories and experiences that make up the story of a life well lived—all in the privacy of our Enduring Memories booth. Each and every tribute is beautifully captured and presented on DVD. This one-of-a-kind archive can also be valuable in helping families work through the complicated emotions that follow a loss. Creating an Enduring Memories® video tribute is simple. When making funeral arrangements, our funeral director will ask you to bring with you pictures of your loved one. The photos are used to produce a beautiful picture tribute, which plays continuously throughout the gathering at the funeral home. During the gathering, family members and friends are invited to enter the Enduring Memories® video booth to record a personal message about their loved one or friend. These recorded messages are combined with photos and music to create a touching three to five minute video that can then be played during the funeral or memorial service. Carolina Funerals and Cremations staff members are available throughout the gathering to direct guests to the booth and answer any questions they may have. Following the service, you will also receive a copy of all unedited messages left by family and friends.
