COLLEYVILLE -- Alice Marie Young Mathew passed away unexpectedly due to a heart attack at her home.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Chapel.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the National Breast Cancer Society. http://www.nationalbreastcancer. org/How-To-Help/Donate-Online.aspx
Alice was born Nov. 18, 1958, to Charles and Ella Young in Hale, Mich. Alice started her life journey as an Air Force brat, exposing her to travel at an early age. As she grew her love of travel only intensified and supported her free spirit.
Alice was a captain of the Hirshey High School dance team, and graduated a Red Raider with a bachelor of science in apparel design and an MBA from the University of Texas. Alice Young married Thomas Mathew on June 11, 1994. Alice's 13-year marriage produced two beautiful children who are the essence of their mother, Alexandra "Alex" and Arianna "Maya." In the spring of 2008 to present, Alice's adventures in life continued with fiance Mark Combs. They enjoyed the great outdoors and spending time together. Alice was a consummate list maker and planner for fashion, restaurants and travel destinations. While Alice was the organized worker in her professional life she was much more a free spirit in her personal life. From fly fisherwoman, to playing "Dancing Queen" in the house, to dressing up as cavewoman and dying her hair black for Halloween, she lived life fully. Alice loved beach vacations and shopping in flea markets and road side bazaars around the world. Alice was always the optimist, finding positive aspects to many tragic events, and when she could not find any positive side to something then her honesty and sense of humor would kick in with replies "You're not ready for that answer" or "I don't think you want to ask that question." Alice's girls were her life. She was proud of their accomplishments in cheerleading, horseback riding, dance and sports. Alice was overwhelmed with pride when Alex made the Mustang Belles Dance team and Maya became a championship flier.
To each and every person she was simply unforgettable.
Alice was preceded in death by Charles Young, her father.
Survivors: Alice is survived by daughters, Alex and Maya Mathew; fiance, Mark Combs; mother, Ella Young; brother, Ray Young and his wife, Malia; nieces, Diana and Lisa Young; brother, Charles Young; sister, Rita Thomas; and nephew, Chas Thomas.
