Andrew Robert Sinclair passed away July 21, 2012, at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, Berrien Center. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, on Wednesday, July 25, at 11 am. A time for visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am, also on Wednesday, July 25 at Starks and Menchinger. The Reverend Dr. Richard Greenwood will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Those wishing to share a memory of Andrew online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Andrew was born May 28, 1966, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He moved with his family to St. Joseph when he was 12, and graduated from St. Joseph High School. He attended Michigan State University, majoring in journalism. He enjoyed big city life, and spent parts of his life in Chicago, Washington, DC, and Seattle.
Andrew was an exceptional writer, and most of his career was spent freelance writing for various magazines and journals. He enjoyed travel writing, as well as writing about a favorite hobby of his – sailing. Andrew was an avid reader, and a history buff. He was a good cook, and enjoyed cooking gourmet meals. Jerk chicken was a well-known specialty. A lover of cats, he always had one in his life.
Andrew is survived by his parents, Bill and Hilda Sinclair of St. Joseph; two sisters, Laura (Michael) Bos and Beth (Troy) Ayotte, both of South Haven; nephews Kyle Bos, Jack Ayotte and Brett Ayotte; niece Erin Bos; daughter Paige Horvath of Ida, Michigan; special friends Rachael Robinson and her son Brian of Macon, Illinois; and aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the US, Canada, Australia and Ireland. Andrew was preceded in death by his grandparents and a cousin, Alethea.
