Anna Sue (Lawrence) Owens, age 83 of Benton, KY., died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 2:05 p.m. at Superior Care Home in Paducah, KY.
Mrs. Owens, the daughter of Novice D. and Blanche (Cole) Lawrence, was a native of Marshall County and a graduate of Brewers High School where she was a cheerleader. She also attended Murray State University.
She was a life-long member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and taught the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class for a number of years. She was a former employee of the Bank of Marshall County and the Kentucky Department of Social Services. Mrs. Owens was also a member of the Marshall County Hospital Auxiliary.
A devoted mother, grandmother, she is survived by two sons, Dr. Dennis Owens and wife Carolyn of Paducah, KY., Dwayne Owens and wife Sami of Benton, KY., and granddaughters, Ashley Cole Owens of Columbus, OH., Jessica Ann Owens of Murray, KY., Paige Chandler Owens of Athens, GA., Erin Freeman of Paducah, KY., and grandson, Cody Freeman of Paducah, KY.
Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest son, David "Red" Owens and her husband of 54 years, Jim Owens.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY., with Rev. Mark Mohler officiating. Burial is to follow at the Brewers Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, KY.
The family asks that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the New Bethel Baptist Church 3995 Mayfield Hwy, Benton, KY 42025
