KOELLER, Anne Roof (Grant),
60, of Eaton, Ohio – beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend – died at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, August 2, 2012, from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash July 19, in Preble County, Ohio.
She was a passenger in a car driven by her brother, Douglas Jay Roof, who was killed in the same accident. They were enroute to a service in Brookville, Ohio, for a childhood friend.
When admitted, Anne was listed in critical condition with a severe traumatic brain injury. She had an advance directive to not be resuscitated. At her death Anne's body was donated for medical use before cremation.
Anne will be remembered as an energetic, spirited, feisty woman who had a keen mind and who was full of life. During her too-short life she attracted a wide circle of friends wherever she was.
She was a sports enthusiast who followed her children's and grandchildren's athletics faithfully. She was an avid Buckeye football fan. She and her brothers, Bill and Doug, had been best friends since childhood. They celebrated that friendship a thousand times over and in 2009 traveled to Alaska and Denali National Park along with Bill's wife, Bobbi. Anne will be greatly missed by the many who cherished her love, friendship and boundless enthusiasm.
Born in Dayton and having grown up in Trotwood, Anne graduated from Trotwood-Madison High School in 1970, She studied theatre at Wright State University and at Ohio University. She appeared in several stage productions including the Trotwood Circle Theater
Anne was a Pharmacy Tech at Walgreens Pharmacy, Eaton, where she worked for several years following a similar position at the former Gary's Pharmacy, Eaton. Anne also had been a cook at The Eaton Place. Before relocating to Eaton, Anne lived in Dayton where she managed several restaurants. Previously she worked as a unit clerk in Labor and Delivery at Miami Valley Hospital.
Anne is survived by her husband, James W. Koeller, Eaton; two children: Timm (Jamie) Grant, Dayton, and one grandchild, Emily; and Lauren Grant, Kettering, Ohio, and her boyfriend, Andrew T. Davenport; a brother, Bill (Bobbi), Round Rock, Texas; and a half-brother Jim Roof, of Littleton, Colo. She is also survived by her first husband, Greg Grant, Kettering, and fiancée, Lori Siewe, She had a host of nieces and nephews.
Anne is also survived by her husband's children: Tammy (Brad) Straszheim, four granddaughters, Annie, Tiffany, Kara and Katie; Shelley (Alan) Stobaugh, one grandson, Aaron; and James (LaGina ) A. Koeller, and grandchildren, Derrick and Jordan, all of Eaton. Anne is survived by several great grandchildren.
A son, Brian preceded Anne in death at 12 in 1996. Anne was also preceded in death by her father, Elgin, in 1965 and mother, Dorothy, in 1980, both of Trotwood; and brother, Doug, Indianapolis, on July 19, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Anne's memory may be made to the Humane Society of Preble County, 951 S. Barron St., Eaton, OH 45320, or online at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/OH95.html.
A public viewing will be held August 8 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Rogers Funeral Home, New Lebanon, Ohio. A service will follow beginning at 3:30 under the direction of Pastor Gary Wood.
As part of Anne's wishes, visitors are asked to wear something red as a representation of Anne's favorite color. Following cremation, private burial services will be held in Dayton and Trotwood.
