Aurelio "Aurie" "Chuck" Petronella, 92, of Spring Hill, Florida passed away November 7, 2012. He was born August 8, 1920, in New York City, New York. He was a 29 year resident of Florida coming from Ridgefield, Connecticut. Aurie was a retired dental technician in his family business in New York. He opened his own dental lab in California and did a little freelance contract work locally. He was commissioned and fabricated one of the first hip prosthesis and made jewelry. Aurie was a wild life sculptor, an artist and was offered a recording contract in his very young years. He was Roman Catholic by faith and a founding member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He was a member of the VFW Post 10209, in Spring Hill; the Knights of Columbus; Spring Hill St. Jude Counsel 6383; and a fond member of Cursillo. Aurie was a very active bowler at Spring Hill Lanes. He was on two leagues, breaking 200 plus quite often. Aurie was a veteran of the US Army, in World War II, Japan Occupation and on General McArthur's military staff.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 67 years, Antonia; his oldest brother Anthony Petronella; his sister Tina Gerani, and his granddaughter Monique Guevara.
Survived by his daughter, Dolores Hardee (Ike), of Spring Hill, FL; son Paul Petronella (Carole), of Arroyo Grande, CA; son Bob Petronella (Ruthie) of Spring Hill, FL; daughter Laura Petronella of Spring Hill, FL; his 14 grandchildren, Sherri, Joseph, Charles, Heather, Noel, Greg, Tracey, Matthew Jordan, Carly, Jenna, Jimmy, Thomas, and Ryan; his 23 great-grandchildren; his two great-great-grandchildren; his brother Frank Petronella, of New York; his brother Armand Petronella (Julie), of Spring Hill, FL; and his sister Mary Agovino, of New York.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 15th, 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the Spring Hill Chapel of Turner Funeral Homes. Service will be Friday, November 16th at 11:00 AM at the Spring Hill Chapel of Turner Funeral Homes. Interment in Florida Hills Memorial Gardens to follow.
