Betty McFarland
Betty Jean(Sparks) Saurborn McFarland, 82, of Fairmont passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born in Fairmont on September 8, 1929 the last surviving child of William E. and Janet (Lahew) Sparks.
Mrs. McFarland was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Saurborn and her second husband John David McFarland.
She was a loving wife, devoted mother and homemaker. In addition Betty worked for the City of Fairmont as a Meter Maid and as a School Crossing Guard.. She had also worked as a waitress.
She was a member of Gateway United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and planting flowers. She loved taking care of her pets especially her dogs Benji and Casey. Family and friends will remember Betty for her willingness to care of family members.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Dawn Saurborn of Fairmont; her granddaughters, Kathryn Saurborn of Fairmont and Jaclyn Saurborn Ringer and her husband Travis of Fairmont and a very special grandchild, Brayden Ringer.
In addition to her parents and husbands, She was preceded in death by Margaret Rose and Jimmy Sanchez.
Friends may call at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Monday, from 4pm to 7pm and Tuesday from 10am to 11am.
The funeral service will be at 11am on Tuesday. Interment services will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
