Carol L. Wendt, age 64, of Harrison Hills, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 after a courageous battle with breast cancer at Aspirus Wausau Hospital under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services. Carol was born February 7, 1948 in Palo Alto, California the daughter of Arlan and Ruby (Oldham) Stone. Carol and David were united in marriage July 10, 1976 in Green Bay. Carol had worked as a claims processer for Wausau Insurance Company for 24 years until her retirement. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time at her home on the lake with her many close friends. She also enjoyed reading, rap music, shopping for jewelry and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and friends. Carol also enjoyed cooking and baking, and was known for her world famous taco bar and desserts. She will be most remembered for her thoughtfulness and generosity toward others. Survivors include: husband, David of 35 years, Harrison Hills, Daughter: Kelly (Jeremy) Jankowsky, Wausau Grandchildren: Peyton and Dylan Jankowsky, Wausau Father: Arlan Stone, Phoenix, Arizona, Sister: Debbie Gaudette, Phoenix, Arizona, Brother: Craig Stone, Petaluma, California, Nieces and nephews: Nicole and Christopher Gaudette, Michael, Katie and Rachael Stone. Brother-in-law: Jim (Julie) Wendt, The Bayer Family, The Coonen Family, along with her many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother: Ruby Stone, grandmother: Elizabeth Hoy, brother: Richard Stone, nephew: Ricky Stone, and mother-in-law: Eunice Walker and father-in-law: Howard Wendt. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 3pm until 7pm at Waid Funeral Home in Merrill, WI. The service will begin at 7pm Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Waid Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. A private burial service will take place 10 am Wednesday, May 30 at Merrill Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Aspirus Cancer Center or to the family. The Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com. The family wishes to thank all their family members and friends for their love, support, compassion and generosity during this time. The family also wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Chris Peterson and all the staff at the UW Cancer Center as well as all the oncology and Hospice staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for their wonderful care.
