Charles C. Harrell, Sr., 86, of New Bern, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 9, 2012. A hardworking man who enjoyed the simple things in life, Mr. Harrell was a painter by trade and a good provider for his family who loved him dearly.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the New Bern Church of God with Pastor David Salmons, Rev. Kenneth Dixon, Rev. Charles C. Harrell, Jr. and Rev. Joseph K. Williams officiating. Interment will follow the service at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Harrell was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Olalene B. Harrell. Surviving him are two daughters, Dorothy H. Laughinghouse and her husband, Hank of New Bern, Kathy H. Williams of New Bern; two sons, Rev. Charles C. Harrell, Jr. and his wife, Rev. Becky Harrell of New Bern and John W. Harrell and his wife, Chrystal of New Bern; eight grandchildren, Rev. Joseph K. Williams and his wife, Brandy, Hank L. Laughinghouse, Jr., Jennipher L. Frederick and her husband, Jason, Patricia Kay Williams, Charles W. Harrell, Joanna Harrell, Amber Harrell and Alyssa Harrell; two great grandchildren, Joseph Kevin Williams, Jr. and Justin Kevin Williams.
The family will receive friends just prior to the funeral service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the New Bern Church of God. Friends are invited to sign the online guest book by visiting www.pollockbest.com.
