Guy Boyle McNamara, age 61, passed away on August 25, 2010. He was born in San Antonio on Nov. 1, 1948. Guy graduated from Robert E. Lee High in 1968, where he earned all-district and all-city honors in football and was named all-state in choir. After high school, he attended Southwest Texas State University. Guy married his high school sweetheart, Diana Carlson, on March 7, 1970. McNamara then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years as a Senior Master Sergeant having last served as Superintendent of Nursing at Wilford Hall. He was named Senior NCO of the year in 1989 for the Joint Military Medical Command and also retired with five Air Force Meritorious Service Medals. Immediately after leaving the USAF in 1992, Guy found another calling working with Special Needs students in Northside ISD where he was employed for 12 years. Guy was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Boyle McNamara. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Diana Carlson McNamara, son, Chad McNamara and wife Sarah, son Wade McNamara and wife Cathryne, daughter Jill Morin and husband Dr. Robert Morin, and sister Carra McNamara Myers. Guy is also survived by six beloved grandchildren, Jones McNamara, Ripley McNamara, Malone McNamara, Lucia McNamara, Ellis Morin, and Harper Morin. A private graveside service will be held Saturday morning, August 28, 2010 at Mission Park South. Friends of Guy and his family are invited to celebrate his life at El Chaparral Loop 1604, beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to make a memorial contribution to the MS Society of America or Odyssey Hospice of San Antonio.
