Hurdle Davis – age 79 of Knoxville went home to be with the Lord at 8:55 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at his North Knoxville home.
He was of the Baptist faith and was the past pastor of Greene's Chapel Baptist Church as well as many churches in the Knoxville area. Mr. Davis was also a member of The Anchormen Quartet for many years.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Nancy Davis; and beloved first wife, Dorothy Mae Haun Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Gay Reed Davis of Knoxville; children and their spouses, Allen Davis and Sharon Bolden and Tamyra Lawson; stepson, John (Teresa) Rohr; grandchildren, Mitzi and James Bryant, Debra Richards and Jody Sentell, Carla Rosson and Erica Ledford, Jamie and Amanda Davis, Amy Rohr, Angel Perry; great-grandchildren, Nikki Robinson, Deana Richards, Katie Richards, Morgan Bryant, Jasmine Bryant, Trenton Rosson, Ciara Davis, Nicholas Davis, Ethan Davis; step-great-grandchildren, Kylie, Jon and Daniel; great-great grandchild, Kinsley Davis; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Monday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Reverend Charlie Reynolds and Reverend Chester Hodgson officiating.
Interment will be in East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Gov. John Sevier Hwy, with full military honors presented by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening prior to the funeral service at the mortuary.
