Mr. James Albert Horton, age 87, of Jackson, GA, formerly of McDonough passed away July 2, 2012. Mr. Horton was born in Fulton County the son of the late Wilfred Albert and Mae Newborn Horton. He served in his country in the US Army from 1943 – 1945. Mr. Horton was a parishioner of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church where he enjoyed serving as a Eucharist Minister and being active in his church. He was a member of the National Riflemen Association where he received several awards for his shooting skills. He worked for Eastern Air Lines for 40 plus years and was a flight instructor for several years. Survivors are his wife, Chris Horton of Jackson; children, Elizabeth Lee McWilliams (Jim) of Jackson, Michael Horton (Kandece) of Miami, and Sandra Rose of Homestead, Florida; 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; brother, Charles W. Horton of Lawrenceville, and a sister, Mildred Mayne of Peachtree City; several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass for James Horton will be Thursday, July 5, 2012 – 11:00 AM at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough with Father Chito Palang officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in East Point, Georgia.
