COLUMBIA John James Hair Jr., 64, passed away on Monday July 16, 2012. Mr. Hair was a well-respected authority in fire equipment and was the successor of the family business Carolina Fire Safety, founded by his late father in 1959.
Mr. Hair was a Past Master of the Broad River Masonic Lodge. He was also a devoted member of the Jamil Temple Hillbillies where he raised funds to support burned and crippled children. He was especially active in the Jamil Shrine Circus and the annual steak supper events.
Mr. Hair was very proud to be an avid Clemson Tiger fan and showed his support through over thirty years of IPTAY membership. He cared deeply for the many friends and comrades of the causes he supported during his life.
He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed very deeply by all who knew him. He is predeceased by his father, John Hair Sr.; mother, Jane Hair; sister, Ruby Gilbert; and his former wife and mother to his children, Delores Hair. He is survived by his son, John J. "Trey" Hair III and his son's wife, Tracy; his daughter, Sheri Hair; two sisters, Marjorie Eleazor and Frances Davis; four grandchildren, Joshua Drawdy, Hailee Beltzhoover, Ellie Hair and Rylan Hair; and special friend, Jolene Stalzer.
Funeral service for Mr. Hair will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Neal Finley, Les Howell, Ken "Fuzzy" Hutto, Joe Davis, Josh Drawdy and Randy Raines. The family will be accepting visitors for refreshments at Mr. Hair's residence on Devereaux Road following the burial.
