John Robert Dillon, age 74 passed away at The Fort Sanders Select Unit Tuesday, October 9, 2012 with his family and friends by his side. He was preceded in death by his Father: John R. Dillon and Mother: Mildred Hart Dillon and One Sister: Jane Phillips. He was born in Chattanooga, TN and was also a Veteran. Mr. Dillon graduated from Carson Newman College with a degree in Education. He had over 38 years service with the Morgan County School System as Guidance Counselor for Oakdale and Coalfield Schools. He was a member of the Wartburg Presbyterian Church. He was a past President of the Wartburg Lions Club.
Mr. Dillon is survived by One Daughter: Tammy Sandlin
Granddaughter : Kara and Husband Jason Lowe and Great Grandson: Connor Lowe and Granddaughter: Brittany Sandlin with Great Granddaughter on the way
Grandson: Cody Dooley of Coalfield
Sister: Nancy Cross of Nashville, TN
Two Nephews: Jeff Phillips of Oak Ridge, TN and John Phillips of Memphis
Aunt: Katherine Dillon of Oak Ridge, TN
Special Friends: Johnnie Sweet, Gary Kries, Shelby Melhorn, George Lowe, Donnie Shadden and Susie Wilkie
The family will receive friends Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 6:00 TO 8:00PM at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. Funeral Services will follow at 8:00pm with Pastor Caroline Anderson officiating. A Graveside service will be held Sunday at 2:00PM in Morgan Memorial Gardens.
