Judith "Judi" A. Morse, 70, Athens, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. She was born February 23, 1942 in Edgar, daughter of the late Norville and Marian (Shanks) Justmann. On June 11, 1960, she married Sanford Morse in Edgar. He survives. Judi farmed on the family homestead in the town of Rietbrock for 32 years and moved to the Athens area in 1991. She proudly worked as a teacher's assistant for both the kindergarten classes and the first grade classes at Athens Elementary School, and also enjoyed working in the cafeteria. Judi was the Chairperson of the Circle of Joy, the Treasurer of the Women's Guild at Christ United Church, the Treasurer of the local chapter of the NEA (National Educators Association) and a Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #123, Wausau. The three most important things to Judi were education, family and community. She was very proud of all her children and their accomplishments. She was very active in her church and was a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed gardening, reading, movies, cooking, knitting and crocheting. Most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends. Survivors include, her husband of 52 years, Sanford Morse, Athens; four children, Shelby M. Niskanen, Wausau, Dr. Sandy (Dale) Stuttgen, Colby, Stuart (Karen) Morse, Athens and Rev. Sara (Timothy Winn) Morse, Roseville, Minn.; six grandchildren, Beth Stuttgen, Luke Morse, Larry Stuttgen, Nathaniel Morse, Courtney Morse and Daniel Winn; and one sister, Lois Wenzel, Wausau. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Kay Tompson; and one brother, David Justmann. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at Christ United Church, Athens. Rev. Teri Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Village Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the church, and again on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Judi's name. Online condolences at www.petersonkraemer.com
