Kerby Kendall Kniess, 49, of Wausau, was taken too early by a tragic crime on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at his home. Kerby was a loving, kind soul who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was born October 25, 1962 in Merrill to Daniel & Julia (Derogatis) Kniess. Kerby was a 1981 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. His career in life was as a lane technician and manager at Day's Bowl-A-Dome in Wausau. Kerby loved to go camping, grilling chicken, fishing, golfing, bowling, watching sports center daily, playing cribbage and other card games, and socializing with his friends. He bowled four sanctioned 300 games and achieved two 800 series. Kerby looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Minnesota. He also loved his Thanksgiving vacation to the hunting shack to spend time with his friends, "The Summit Savages". Survivors include his parents: Daniel & Julia Kniess, Gleason; three sisters: Kitty Lange, Kathleen (Darrell) Krzanowski and Kandy Walker, all of Gleason; brother: Kriss Kniess, Gleason; one niece: Tasha Kniess; three nephews: Daniel S. Kniess, Derek (Heather) Krzanowski & Jesse Krzanowski, and special friends: Steve & Sherry Frank, Dean Day & family, Mark Klug and many other friends, too numerous to name. He was preceded in death by his paternal & maternal grandparents, Paul & Alice Derogatis and Esther & Erwin Kniess, a brother-in-law, Craig Lange, and an uncle, Ronald Derogatis. Services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Waid Funeral Home Chapel. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday, June 22, 2012 and again from 9:30 AM until the time of service all at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gleason Cemetery. A gathering will be held at Day's Bowl-A-Dome after the committal service. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
