Kevin Thomas Dress, 55, Carmel, passed away August 11, 2012 after a two year struggle with cancer. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, brother, son, and uncle. Kevin was born on March 13, 1957 in Chicago, IL to Barbara (Beall) and Roger Dress, who both survive him. He grew up in Arlington Heights, IL and graduated from St. Viator High School in 1975. Kevin went on to receive B. A. degrees in both telecommunications and political science at Indiana University- Bloomington. While there he met Mary Jane Erwin, whom he dated and eventually married in June of 1981. He remained devoted to her for 31 years. Kevin was a man who loved his work as a salesman, first with Solo Cup Company up until his latest position as the National Sales Director for Ralcorp Holdings. He relished the traveling that his job required and was saddened when his illness kept him from continuing that aspect. Colleagues remember him as a man who exuded enthusiasm and who took great pride in his work. Kevin was truly a lover of life, making everything a little more exciting with his presence. He loved golf, cooking, traveling and being with family and friends. He was a true IU Hoosiers fan. Along with his parents of Arlington Heights, IL, he is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, and children, Ashley and Kyle, all of Carmel; his brothers, Christopher (Cheryl) of Lee's Summit, MO, and Stephen (Carolyn) of Northbrook, IL; his sister, Shannon (Bruce) Bachar of Mount Prospect, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 15 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 14598 Oak Ridge Road, Carmel. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 14 from 4-8 PM at Flanner and Buchanan- Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive, with a rosary service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 9-10 AM at the church. Cremation will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Holy Family Shelter through the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Contributions may be made online or mailed directly to the shelter located at 907 N. Holmes Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46222.
