Mrs. Laverne Watson Walters, 87, of Ty Ty died Monday July 30, 2012 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday August 2, 2012 at the Pine Forest Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Pine Forest Cemetery with Rev. Roy Carroll and Rev. David Benton officiating.
Mrs. Walters was born in Crisp County on April 2, 1925 to the late Robert Lee and Nettie Davie Smith Watson. She had lived in Worth County since 1939 and was formerly employed with Sylvester Textile. Mrs. Walters was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, sewing and fishing. She was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church where she attended the Adult Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Goodwin of Tifton; sons, Leon Walters (Laura) of Tifton, Bill Walters (Lorene) of Omega, Larry Walters of Ty Ty, Jerry Walters (Jackie) of Shingler; daughter-in-law, June Walters of Ty Ty; brother, Voyd Watson (Shirley) of Chula; sister, Olene Clegg (Bobby) of Phoenix City, AL; sister-in-law, Grace Watson of Athens; grandchildren, Barry Walters (Denise), Sherri Walters Moore (Darrell), Jeannine Walters Taylor (Vone), Rhonda Walters, Kevin Walters (Laura), Kameron Goodwin, Bobby Joe Dorsey (Lori), William Walters, Jason Walters (Candi), Jennifer Walters Senn (David); great grandchildren, Nicole Taylor, Dustin Taylor, Katelyne Walters, Ashley Ellis, Laurie Walters, Wayne Walters, Layne Walters, Maggie Moore, Gage Dorsey, Seth Dorsey and Michael Senn.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Walters was preceded in death by her husband, William Laurie Walters on March 10, 1990; son, Wayne Walters on November 28, 1998; son-in-law, Kenneth Goodwin; brothers, Lonnie Watson, Edward Watson, Bobby K. Watson; sisters, Lucille Selph and Katherine Mize.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
