Lorena E. Sense Lorena E. Sense, age 92, of Merrill, died Friday, November 4, 2011 at Good Samaritan Health Center. She was born July 7, 1919 in the town of Maine, the daughter of the late Wilhelm and Martha (Utecht) Barttelt. She married Walter Sense on April 19, 1941 in the town of Maine. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1999. Lorena farmed with her husband in the town of Scott until the mid 1960's. She then worked for a short time at Semco in Merrill and then did babysitting. Lorena was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, where she was involved in the Ladies Aide and the Fellowship Club. She also belonged to the Scott Hustlers Homemakers Club and volunteered at the Lincoln County 4H Fair. Lorena enjoyed craft work, playing cards at family gatherings and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Door County and watching the Packers and the Brewers on TV. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Lorena is survived by her daughter, Karen (Michael) Theilig of Merrill, her son, Ronald (Barbara) Sense of Greenfield, WI, a sister, Ella Gaeu of Merrill, 3 brothers, Elgardt, Delbert (Marilyn), and Vilas (Micky) all of Wausau. 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Gerald. Funeral services will be Noon on Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Szeto will officiate. Visitation will be from 10AM until Noon at St. John Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park. The Waid Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
