Mark T. Morarie, 56, of Brooklyn, Iowa, died on Sunday, August 12, 2012, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the Madison Church of Christ near Brooklyn with Pastor Dennis Smith officiating. The family will be present at the church beginning 12:30 p.m. until service time to greet family and friends.
Memorials may be directed to the Mark Morarie Memorial Fund.
The Smith Funeral Home of Grinnell is handling arrangements.
Mark was born on August 9, 1956, at Oelwein, Iowa, to Glenn and Jeannie Belden Morarie. He was raised in Central City, Iowa and graduated from Central City High School with the Class of 1974. Following high school he enrolled at Iowa State University and received a B.S. degree in botany and agronomy. After his education he worked in the seed corn production business in Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and Minnesota.
On November 12, 1983, he was married to Julie Rash in Steamboat Rock, Iowa. The couple were the parents of four children and they have resided in Brooklyn since 1993. He was employed for the Precision Soya Company of Belle Plaine at the time of his death.
Mark enjoyed gardening, hunting for mushrooms, deer hunting, attending auto races and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Morarie of Brooklyn; his children, Kevin Thomas Morarie of Newton, IA, Sarah Anne Morarie of Hudson, IA, Alexander Michael Morarie of Brooklyn, IA and Catherine Elizabeth Morarie of Fayette, IA; his father, Glenn Morarie of Cedar Rapids, IA; and five brothers, Arnold Morarie of Stone City, IA, Rick Morarie of Anamosa, IA, Richard Morarie of Cedar Rapids, IA, Steve Morarie of Central City, IA, and Randy Morarie of Ashville, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and one brother, Michael.
