Mrs. Nowell was born on August 13, 1936 in Palatka, FL. She was the daughter of the late Philip and Esther Griffin of Live Oak, FL. Mrs. Nowell had worked at the Marine Corps Logistics Base and the U.S. Post Office here in Albany. She was the co-founder and president of Sowega Chlorinator Co., Inc. She and her husband Jimmy founded the company 35 years ago. Mrs. Nowell was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church, Shining Lights Sunday School Class, and the Georgia Rural Water Association.
