Mary A. (Cavanagh) Curdo of Melrose died peacefully at her daughter's home in Windham, New Hampshire on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. She was 92 years old. Born in Somerville, Massachusetts on December 8, 1919, a daughter of the late Bartholomew & Delia (O'Rourke) Cavanagh, Mary was raised in Somerville and a graduate of Somerville High School. Besides a brief stay in Charlestown until the second grade, she lived 70 years in Somerville. Mary spent the last 23 years in Melrose and was a member of St. Mary's Church of Melrose. Mrs. Curdo worked for 31 years as a meat wrapper at the 1st National Supermarket in Somerville and then the A & P Supermarket in Boston, retiring in 1991. Mary loved her family, dancing and traveling. She was the devoted wife of the late Clarence C. Curdo, loving mother of Joan F. Alosso & her husband Thomas of Windham, NH. Cherished grandmother of Matthew Flewelling & his wife Jennifer of Manchester, NH, Laurie Flewelling of Medford & Thomas Alosso & his wife Naomi, also of Manchester, NH. Great grandmother of Joslyn, Liam, Summer, Dominic & Roman. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tuesday, July 3rd at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Monday from 4-8PM. Interment is private.
