Mary Lou Norton Manning, of Ten Mile, crossed the bridge from her earthly life and stepped into the arms of Jesus after her year-long battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family at her home on Friday, July 20, 2012. Mary Lou was born on May 30, 1935 and was the youngest daughter of David Marshall Norton and Lola Reagan Norton. She was an active member of Salem Baptist Church in Ten Mile, Tennessee and has spent her entire life helping other people. She was a very special friend to many of the children in her church family. Mary Lou was coordinator of the food ministry when a death occurred in the church and she and her husband Don were in charge of the holiday food basket ministry which they loved doing. She was also a photographer and took various pictures at church functions. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, traveling, and watching the grandchildren playing ball. Waiting in Heaven to meet her are: parents, David Marshall Norton and Lola Reagan Norton; Sisters: Monnie Norton Dixon; Edith Norton Rutherford; Vera Norton Williams; Brothers: Roy C. Norton; Gaylord F. Norton; David J. Norton; and James Ralph Norton.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald Leon Manning; Daughter: Rebecca Darlene Manning Clark and husband Jerry of Knoxville, TN; Son: David Leon Manning and wife, Tracey of Ten Mile, TN; 4 Grandchildren: Donald Scott Clark and wife Jessica of Knoxville, TN; Hope Maria Clark and fiancé Harry Plumbley of Austin, TX, Joshua Leon Manning, and Amber Nicole Manning, of Ten Mile, TN; Sisters: Leona Norton Cate of Maryville, TN; Anna Norton Naill and husband Sam of Knoxville, TN; Sister-in-Law Carol Norton, of Hobbs, NM; Special Niece: Joyce Rutherford Dockery and husband Lewis, of Maryville, TN; Numerous other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank doctors Daniel Ibach and Heath Many and all of their office staff for the love and kindness they have shown to us over the past year as well as Home Health Care of East Tennessee and Hospice for their support.

Funeral 7pm Monday July 23, 2012 in the Kyker Chapel with Rev. Ted Clower officiating. Burial 11am Tuesday at Stock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Salem Baptist Church, 1355 Dry Fork Valley Road, Ten Mile, TN 37880 in memory of Mary Lou Manning. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7pm Monday at the Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston.
