Blacksburg, VA - Melissa D'Ambrosio, 32, died unexpectedly Friday, July 20, 2012 at her home due to a congenital heart defect. A former longtime Hyde Park resident, she had been a Virginia resident since March.
She was born in Poughkeepsie on April 20, 1980. Her father, Anthony J. D'Ambrosio and his wife, Ruth, survive in Staatsburg; and her mother, Carol A. LeBoff Rodman, and her husband, Steve, survive in West Hempstead, NY.
Melissa graduated from Marist College summa cum laude; receiving her bachelor's degree.
No matter where she lived, Melissa was always giving of herself; volunteering her time and staying active in her community.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Anne Tasch and husband, Scott, of Ridgefield, CT; step-sister, Kim Thompson and husband, Jay, of Aurora, CO; step-brother, Richard Shook and wife, Kristin, of Pocatello, ID; step-sister, Christine Fairbanks of Salt Point; step-brother, Dennis Fairbanks and wife, Nikki, of Jacksonville, FL; several nieces and nephews; and maternal grandparents, Mildred and Melvin LeBoff of Newington, CT.
In keeping with Melissa's wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial calling hours will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm, Thursday, July 26th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
