Mildred "Millie" Tomchaney, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away while surrounded by her family Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 Monday, August 6, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3590 Lincoln Ave., St. Joseph with Pastor Franz Brandenburg officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church. Those wishing to share a memory of Mildred online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Mildred was born December 13, 1928 in Kenosha, WI, to Joseph and Mildred (Kolak) Hlavata. On June 5, 1948 she married Emil Tomchaney in Kenosha, WI. Mildred was a volunteer for over 20 years for Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. Her real joy was spending time with family, greeting friends and neighbors from her garage and Sunday drives to the bluff with her daughter.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Diane (Gerald) Sjoberg of St. Joseph; grandchildren Jennifer (Anton) Howard of Noblesville, IN, Michelle (Brian) Revercomb of Noblesville, IN, Gregory (Katie) Sjoberg of Noblesville, IN, Lisa (William) Hartgraves of Paw Paw, MI, Jill (Daryl) Welsh of Union Mills, IN and Tracy (Martin) Ellis of Fishers, IN; 8 great grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband and son Stephen Tomchaney.
