Ole James Hanson, age 77, of Merrill, died, Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Ole was born August 13, 1934 in Merrill the son of the late Oscar and Isabel (Lemmer) Hanson. Ole attended and graduated from Merrill High School. He married Barbara Travis, October 27, 1956, in Merrill. Ole worked as the Lincoln County Forest Administrator for 35 years. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and Lincoln County ARC. Survivors include, wife: Barbara, 5 children: Jane (Patrick) Severt, Cathy (Jim) Wendt, Christine Hanson, all of Merrill, Brian (Kathy) Hanson, Harrison, Polly (Scott) Hoffmann, Merrill, Grandchildren: Adam Annis, Hannah and Jeremiah (Katie) Wendt, Katie and Ole Hanson, Dan, Jared and Nick Hoffmann, 2 great granddaughters: Isabel and Josephine Wendt, Brother: Richard Hanson, 3 sisters: Grace Barney, Pat Hopper, and Betty Lemke. Sisters in law: Pat Hanson, Patsy Travis and Jean Osness, and many nieces and nephews. Ole was preceded in death by 2 children: Steven Ole and Lori May, his parents, brother Oscar "Pinky" Hanson, and sister Isabel "Sis" Chamberlain. Visitation will be Tuesday 4-8 pm at Waid Funeral Home, and Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service. Funeral service will be 11:30 am Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Aspirus Hospital or Bell Tower Residence.
