Mrs. Patsy Yancey Leverenz, age 80, Douglasville, GA passed away Friday, February 1, 2013. She was born March 26, 1932 in Douglasville, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wade Alexander Yancey and Sarah Clonts Yancey.
Patsy was a graduate of Douglas County High School and attended Georgia State University where she was a member of Delta Lambda Epsilon sorority. Ms. Leverenz retired as Senior Director of Asset Resources for Prudential Financial at age 73. She is a former employee of Traveler's Insurance Asset Management and First Fidelity Mortgage Corporation. She traveled extensively in her work, serving offices in Atlanta, Dallas, TX and Hartford, CT. She was a member of Bright Star United Methodist Church in Douglasville. Her volunteer service included mission work at orphanages in Russia, membership in the Auxiliary at Wellstar Douglas Hospital, work with ZOO Atlanta and tutoring in the Douglas County school system.
Patsy was known for her vivacious personality and outstanding capabilities as a hostess. She had a deep love of nature and a marked affinity for animals.
She is survived by her brothers, Jack Yancey and Max Yancey; aunts, Estelle Yancey and Jean Meek; uncle, Brown Clonts; daughters, Karen Caulfield and Heidi Jacobson; grandchildren, Brendan Caulfield, Galen Caulfield, Chloe Jacobson, Tate Jacobson; and numerous extended family members.
Her memorial service will be Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. James Jenkins officiating.
