Paul M. Brennan passed away at the North Shore Medical Center in Lynn on January 30, 2013. He was 69 years of age. Paul was born in Melrose on December 3, 1943, was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School with the class of 1961. He served in the US Navy from 1962-1966, during the Vietnam War era. A graduate of the US Navy School of Music, Paul played in the US Navy Band and was a loyal member of the Naval Musicians Association ever since. Paul lived in Melrose for many years, with brief sojourns in Norfolk, VA, Charleston, SC, London, UK, and Woburn, but he has resided in Saugus for the past 21 years. Paul was a multi-faceted musician who played piano, saxophone, clarinet and trumpet. He performed in a variety of musical contexts, from local marching bands to jazz combos and dance bands and for a time the Melrose Symphony Orchestra. Most recently, he has played with the Swamptones and with David James Music. He was a professional piano technician who worked for many years at the Williams Piano Shop in Brookline, also doing business as Paul Brennan Piano Tuning and Repair in Saugus. Paul was the son of the late John P. & Margaret (Farrell) Brennan, brother of John & his wife SuzAnne Runge Brennan of Fort Wayne and New Haven, Indiana and Neal Brennan of Sandwich, nephew of the late Edna V. Farrell, uncle of Sara (Kenneth) LaBelle of Honolulu, James Brennan of Portland, OR, Heidi Brennan of Wakefield, Joseph Brennan of Fort Wayne, and Moira Brennan of New York, NY and great-uncle of Veronica Casey LaBelle.
