Peter Cofield, 61, of Mendham passed away at Morristown Memorial Hospital on December 27th. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of St. Joseph, 6 W. Main St, Mendham on Tuesday, January 4th at 11:00am. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Whippany. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd, Whippany on Monday from 3-9pm. A long time resident of Cedar Knolls, Peter had also lived in New York City before moving to Mendham thirteen years ago. He was a graduate of Trenton State College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. Peter's love of music began early in life. He was a composer at Sunday Productions in New York City. His extraordinary musical talent gave life to many television ads for companies such as Pepsi Cola, General Electric and Gillette. He leaves a legacy of music beyond his brilliant professional work in the songs he wrote in celebration of family and friends. Peter will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his exuberance, optimism, and sense of humor that delighted all who knew him. He will be sorely missed. Peter was the beloved husband of 35 years to Marianne. He was the cherished father of Rachel, Lauren, and Dylan. He is also survived by many loving relatives. Those who wish may make a contribution in his memory to VH1 Save The Music Foundation, Attn: Deniece Dykes, 1515 Broadway, 20th Floor, New York, NY 10036.
