Regina V. Roets, 80, of Merrill, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, under Hospice Care at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill. Born on July 15, 1931 in the town of Scott, Regina was the daughter of Adam and Anna (Kordus) Sczygelski. She was married to Norman F. Roets in Merrill on July 10, 1954 Regina in her younger years was part of the Corning All – Stars 4-H Club. She was a 1950 graduate of "Our Lady of the Holy Cross High School" in Merrill. Regina worked for Dr. Hughes. She did work for South of the Border for a short time in the 80's. Regina was a home maker (farmwife), was a leader of the Pine River 4-H Club while her children were involved, and a member of the Pine River Homemakers Club. She enjoyed doing cross-stitching, bookkeeping and was a Family Historian for the Sczygelski family tree. Survivors include her husband, Norman; five sons, Steven (Cheryl), James (Patricia), Michael (Patricia J.), Patrick and David, all of Merrill; three daughters, Anna (Mark) Berger, Santa Clara, CA, Beatrice Roets, Merrill, and Debra (Timothy) Nofsinger, Athens; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie (Adam) Wegner, Ellie (John) Reich, Andrea (Jonathon) Swenson, Steven Roets, Jenny Roets, Jeremy (Winda) Roets, Amos Robl, Cameo Roets, Samantha Roets and Myles Nofsinger; one great-grandson, Alex Wegner; three sisters, Esther (Jerome) Ament, Menasha, Genevieve Hollenback, Appleton, and Rosemary (Robert) Eckhardt Merrill; three brothers, Lawrence (Vivian) , John (Helen) and Anthony (Corrine), all of Merrill; step-brother, Edward (Lucille) Roble, Wausau; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam & Anna Sczygelski, step-mother, Victoria Sczygelski, brother, Charles Sczygelski, and two step-brothers, Benedict and Eugene Roble. Mass of the Resurrection will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Merrill. Fr. Mike McLain will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Monday, July 25, 2011 and again from 12:30-1:00 PM all at Waid Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone that took care of our Mother in all of her needs in the last few months of her life at Pine Crest Nursing Home.
