Robert O. Bacon, 42, Merrill, died June 23, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after a brave battle with Lupus for over 30 years. He was born April 5, 1969 in Wausau to Dale and Christine (Johnson) Bacon. Robert enjoyed word searches, Western movies - his favorite being Gunsmoke, listening to Country Western music and camping he especially liked being in charge of towing the camper for mom and dad. He also loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. Bob was an excellent speller and had a very positive attitude. Even though he had faced many health struggles relating to Lupus during his life he seldom complained. Bob was a tractor kind of guy and his nickname was George which was what most of his family and friends called him. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Survivors include his parents, Dale & Christine Bacon, Merrill; sisters and brother, Mary (Tom) Ball, and their children, Michael, Eric, Aidan, Katy, & Brian Ball; Marie Bacon and her daughter, Makayla Sutherland; Dale J. Bacon Jr, all of Merrill and Vicky (Jeffrie) Bartz, and their children, Ryan, Jamie and Dakota Bartz, Schofield. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Father Mike McLain will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 10:30 AM at Waid Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery.
