Ronald A. Smith, 76, a longtime resident of Brockton, died at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital on Saturday, July 21. He was the husband of Nancy M. (Hanson) Smith. Born and raised in Stoughton, he was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1955. He was a resident of Brockton for 50 years. Mr. Smith was a plumber with Local 51 in Brockton and Providence for 50 years before retiring 10 years ago. He enjoyed boating, snowmobiling and spending time at his home in New Hampshire.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by his children, Kathleen Packard and her husband Kenneth of Plymouth, Christine Bettencourt and her husband Wayne of S. Easton and Lisa Smith of Wareham. He was the grandfather of Kevin, Ashley, Katelyn, Kerry Lynn and Jonathan and great-grandfather of Caleb, Chloe and Baby John. He is also survived by his sisters, Constance Martin and Joanne McGowan both of Stoughton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton on Thursday, July 26 at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Wednesday from 5-8 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronald's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
