Ruth Aline Goss Dauphin, cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 18 August 2012 . She was born in Electra, Wichita County, Texas on the 12 November 1920 to Henry and Melba St.Ores Goss. Ruth was predeceased by her brother, David Henry Goss.
She grew up in the Houston Heights attending the West Fourteenth Baptist Church where she trusted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She graduated from Reagan High School, and attended the Lillie Jolly School of Nursing. She married Floyd Holley Dauphin, on 2 April 1939. They moved to Baytown in the summer of 1939. He passed away in 1985. She worked many years as a medical assistant, retiring at the age of seventy eight from the MBA in Baytown.
A member of Second Baptist Church for almost seventy years, she served in many ministries. She was an excellent Bible teacher. One of the greatest joys in her life was the Naomi Sunday School Class. She loved every person in the class, and they were always there to rejoice with her, or to support her when she went through her trials.
She had a servant's heart, and was always doing for others. The celebration of Christ's birth was her favorite time of the year, and she went all out. Her famous Christmas and Thanksgiving feasts were always open to anyone who didn't have a place to go. She always cooked a big meal before going to church on Sunday, and it was not unusual for her to give it all to someone who had unexpected company or a need.
Ruth was the mother of three children, daughter Dianne Johnson and husband Roy of Baytown, son David Thomas Dauphin and wife Janice of Mission, and son Dennis Ray Dauphin who passed away in 1992. She had three granddaughters, Larke Amber Johnson Marvin and husband Daniel of Lawrenceburg, KY; Stephanie Dianne Dauphin Scott and husband William of Austin; Amy LaNell Johnson Prather and husband Andrew of Austin. Her five great grandchildren brought her so much joy in the last three years of her life, William Joseph Scott IV, Addison Joy Prather, Alyah Ruth Marvin, Briar Rose Scott, and Ashlyn Jessa Prather.
She is also survived by a sister-in-law Mary Woods Goss, niece Karen Aline Garcia and husband Thomas of Conroe, nephew Daniel Henry Goss and wife Deborah of Brenham.
Her wish was that in lieu of flowers that gifts would be given for the spread of the Gospel. Those wishing to honor her can give to the mission fund of Baytown Community Church, 915 E Cedar Bayou-Lynchburg Road, Baytown, TX 77521, or the mission fund of your choice.
At her request there will be a private family memorial service. Burial will be at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in Houston.
A special thank you to Aliena Herman for the wonderful care you gave her. We will always be grateful to all of the staff at Remington Park for the care they gave our mother, especially Orelia, Betty, Windy, Stephanie, Mary Lou, Rosilanda, Julia, and Danelle. She spent her last days in the Special Needs Unit at Remington. ALL of the staff over there went above and beyond in caring for her and our family.
Revelation 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."
