Ruth F. Stitt of Needham passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the age of 90 years. Ruth was born on August 1, 1921 in Newton MA to Melvin and Blanche (Fleming) Ward. Ruth was raised in Needham and graduated from Needham High School with the class of 1939. She served as personal secretary to the president of Carters, worked in the Needham Town Clerks Office and was Church Secretary at the Carter United Methodist Church at the time of her retirement. Ruth's passion was service to the church and others. Visiting the sick, the elderly, and shut-ins was a big part of her life. She was a decorative furniture painter and a master baker. Wedding and festive cake baking was another of her talents, however, she was truly known, near and far, for baking the best apple pies ever!!! Ruth is survived by her son Ronald W. Stitt and daughter Elaine Stitt Kidd of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and her son Robert F Stitt. of Zebulon, N.C.; grandchildren Brian Stitt and Jesse Kidd of Santa Fe, NM; and grandchildren Robert and Brandon Stitt of Zebulon, N.C. A memorial service will be held at the Carter Memorial United Methodist Church , 800 Highland Ave in Needham on Wed . Aug. 1st at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carter Memorial Church.
