LCpl Steven Sutton, U.S.M.C., 24 of Jacksonville, NC, formerly of Leesburg, died Saturday May 26, 2012 in the line of duty in the Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

His funeral service will be Wednesday, June 6, 2012 2 PM at First Baptist Church of Leesburg with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 5, 2012 5 to 8 PM at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors.

Born in Tifton, LCpl Sutton grew up in Lee County and graduated from Lee County in 2007 where he played varsity football. He was a HERO to his wife, daughter and family and was known as a "Gentle Giant" and a great friend. He loved life, hunting and fishing.

LCpl Sutton join the U. S. Marine Corps in 2009 and was attached to the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment of the 2nd Marine Division.

Survivors include his wife Toni Senn Sutton, Leesburg; daughter Aubrey Smith, Leesburg; father, Gene Sutton and wife Bonnie, Leesburg; mother Sue Etheridge, Sylvester; brother, Jack Sutton, Carson City, NV, Ches Balentine, Sylvester; sister, Nicki Tyre, Tallahassee, FL; grandparents, Bobbi Ford, Leesburg, Nell Rugg, Isabella, father and mother in law, Donny and Celia Senn, Leesburg; brother in law, Wadon Senn, Leesburg.
