Thomas Michael Serpa, 64, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Paris Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Following cremation, Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23rd, at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Mr. Serpa, the son of Jess & Mona Bouderin Serpa, was born Nov. 29, 1947, in San Jose, CA.
He served in the U. S. Army for six years, being stationed overseas at times. He participated as a musician while in the Army. Following graduation from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music, he taught music and gave private lessons at the Music Village in San Jose for a number of years, especially in woodwinds. He was the leader of the Tom Serpa Big Band, and was active in jazz bands in San Jose, CA, where he was known as a great saxophone player.
His father preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mother, Mona Serpa of Las Vegas, NV, a daughter, Karen Beassie & husband Dean of Arlington, TX, a son, Michael Serpa & wife Amanda of Amarillo, TX, one granddaughter, Aubrey Serpa of Amarillo, TX and a brother, Robert Serpa & wife Catherine of Las Vegas, NV.
