William Andrew "Jack" Marshall, Jr., 71, of Charlottesville, passed Thursday, July 5, 2012 at his home with his family at his bedside.
Born April 7, 1941 in Greene County, he was the son of the late William Andrew and Dora Glen Leake Marshall. In addition, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Harry and Buddy.
Jack was the proprietor of Airport Road Auto Center for 42 years. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and loved tinkering with hot rods. He enjoyed his Saturday morning breakfasts with his buddies.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rachel King Marshall; a son, Scott Marshall and his wife Randi; a daughter, Kelly Clay and her husband Doug; two brothers, Richard Marshall and his wife Chris and Hunter Marshall and his wife Leanna; two sisters, Faye McCauley and Betty Harlow; five grandchildren, Dusty Clay and his girlfriend Whitney Richards, Cody Clay, Shauna Marshall, Danielle Horridge and Zachary Horridge; and special friends, Melvin Breeden, Billy Meyers, Elaine Greims, Dallas and Margie Collier.
A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Holly Memorial Gardens. Following the service, there will be a reception at the Elks Lodge.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Robert Pritchard, Dr. Gordon Morris and Hospice of the Piedmont for their compassionate care.
