Zona Long age 81 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Legacy Lodge Hospice Center in Chariton, Iowa after a lengthy illness.
Zona was born December 8, 1930 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Bacil and Gladys (Houser) Phillips. On November 20, 1949 Zona married her beloved husband Gene R. Long. (Long) Rogers of Charlotte, North Carolina. Gene preceded Zona in death on July 8, 2010.
Zona was well known and always helpful to the farmers of Appanoose and surrounding counties through her many years of service at the ASCS Office in Centerville. Zona's greatest pleasure in life was her family and her relationship with God.
She is survived by her two children; sister-in-law Janice (David) Jay of Donna, Texas; three nieces; one nephew; and her precious nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. The family would like to express their love and gratitude to Zona's (as well as Gene's) adopted family, Jeff, Barb, and Brenton Willier whom have been so caring and loving for the past twelve years. She loved and thought of her adopted family as her own. Also, thank you to Lanny and Iva Doggett, Lauren and Sheila Walker for all your special love and care given. Thank you to Zona's Minister, Pastor Lloyd Johnston and the rest of the loving Church family. Finally, thank you to Dr. Kathy Lange, MD for her years of excellent care given to Zona.
